My goal for this project is to educate my audience about a political
issue: to vote. I would like people to be conscious that voting is very
important, even in States such as South Carolina where the Republican Party is
the most influential political party since mid-1900s. I would like to discuss
about the Democracy also and give some examples such as Brazil where voting is
not a right but a duty.
My target audience is the whole population of South Carolina, and
especially the students who should be the ones with the more hope for the
future of their country. Everyone and every student should vote. Thus, my
direct audience will be the classroom. I don’t pretend that I will be able to
push people to vote if they are convinced that it is pointless in this State
but I think that if they are in this classroom it’s because they are interested
in politics and they care about the future of their country. Plus, I heard some
people said that there is no point to vote because anyhow their votes would not
count because it is obvious that the Republican Party is going to win. So my
audience is in priority people who support Obama.
To focus and reach that
audience specifically, I will have to give rise to what the consequences could
be if people don’t consider useful to vote for the party they trust in. For
this, I would give a French example: in 2002, the right extreme’s candidate was
at the second turn of the French Presidential Elections in front of the right’s
candidate because people thought the left’s candidate was going to be at the
second turn for sure so they didn’t go to vote.
Concerning, my communication’s form, I think it would
be more interesting to do a video editing than simply doing a PowerPoint
presentation but at the same time I am not really good at creating video. Thus,
I am going to try to make interviews and recording videos. I would like to try
to do something original so that people won’t think that this is a moral
lesson!
To distribute the information, I think the best solution is to use the
internet and website such as YouTube.
Finally, if my project is
successful, it would mean that at least all the people from my classroom will
go to vote on November 6. The purpose is to encourage people to vote for Obama
event if they are convinced that Romney is going to have the majority of the
votes in this State. Thus, it is going to be hard to measure the project’s
effects. I think the only solution will be to discuss with people and ask them
if they actually did go to vote. Then, we can only count on frankness!
